What is the difference between an Executor and an Administrator of a Will?
When a valid Will is left, a personal representative will act as the executor of the Will.
If there is no Will was not created, the personal representative becomes known as an administrator of the will.
The personal representative is legally entitled to and responsible for the administration of the estate on behalf of the testator. They are the person who has the responsibility of managing the deceased person’s estate.
The responsibility involves resolving issues related to matters such as property, debts and possessions.
The role of executor or administrator is a position of responsibility. The person chosen should be thoroughly considered before being appointed.
